Do you want garage cabinets that have a rustic farmhouse look with wood panelling and heavy duty metal hinges? Why not use an outdoor wooden storage shed? These are strong and durable, pus they will give your garage style and, of course, organized storage.
Advantages of Using Outdoor Sheds for Garage Storage:
Although outdoor sheds involve out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to garage cabinets, they widen your garage storage options quite a bit. You don’t have to buy an enormous Tuff-Shed size either. In fact, many of these sheds have similar dimensions to garage cabinets.
Not only do you get more choices when it comes to design, shape and size, you can sometimes save some money too. Not to mention, you can use them in open carports where they get exposed to more weather.
I came across this particular shed when I was researching ideas for building garage cabinets that had a farmhouse appeal. The dimensions fit my space well, and I could forgo cutting, measuring and building shelving and doors from scratch.
Note: I actually think this garden shed would work better in a garage than outdoors because it is not very tall. (Only about 5 1/2 feet tall). As a result, it can’t fit most ladders or some longer garden tools.
Instead, I think the size and shape works better for mops, brooms, dry goods, holiday decorations, cleaning supplies, etc.. You can also remove any of the shelves to customize the shed for your storage needs.
Note: This shed has a tilted asphalt roof, designed for efficiently shedding water, etc.. Therefore, you can’t really stack additional items on top.
That said, the slope is not steep. You could easily attach a strip of wood on the lower edge to create an even top shelf. Or, keep the slanted roof, as it adds to the unique look of the cabinets.
Pros & Cons of the Wooden Garage Shed:
Overall, the appearance and style of this garage storage idea gets a 10/10. Plus, multiple cabinets provide an easy way to hide ugly or unfinished walls (without a lot of work).
Note By the way, another supplier sells these sheds in different finishes, including grey with white trim or stained natural wood.
Give your garage a stylish new look, organize your equipment, tools and supplies and minimize clutter all at the same time. In fact, each shed only takes about 1 hour to assemble, plus an electric drill will speed up the project.
The shed also is made of durable materials that can last a long time. However, the structure may not hold lots of heavy items like Gladiator garage cabinets, which can hold 100’s of pounds due to its steel frame design.
Lastly, I especially like the extra width (56″ wide) and depth (20″ deep). Most tall storage cabinets only measure 30-36″ across and 15-18″ deep. These 2 dimensions add significantly more storage area. That said, you can find taller 6-foot tall cabinets with flat tops that allow for extra storage.
